Assessment

At the Emotions Clinic Australia, Dr Belinda Ratcliffe, Dr Anne Devlin, Talia Burton and Laura Dunne provide ‘gold standard’ assessment and diagnosis for neurodiverse individuals (from ages 6 years through to 80+ years adulthood) with or suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability or other developmental disabilities, Giftedness, Learning Disorders and/or co-occurring mental ill-health.

Our Clinic utilises Dr Belinda Ratcliffe’s unique ‘5-finger clinical assessment for Autism, Intellectual Disability and Mental Health’, which is a comprehensive, evidence-based approach. Dr Ratcliffe provides training and supervision in her Model of Clinical Assessment across Australia (more information for interested mental health professionals is available here).

The Emotions Clinic embraces a neurodiversity perspective, throughout the assessment, report and feedback process while at the same time are very familiar with the language, recommendations and process required to support access to additional supports (e.g. school funding, NDIS funding etc).  We aim for the assessment process to be a journey, where our patients feel seen, heard and understood.

We acknowledge that 70% of Autistic individuals and 40% of individual with Intellectual Disability experience mental ill-health. Our comprehensive approach includes screening and assessment of co-occurring mental health issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, OCD).
